I've been spending my free time learning to let go. And I don't mean just physical "stuff", but I mean a more thorough person cleansing letting go. When we accumulate "junk" on out insides AND outsides we can get into all kinds of trouble. And I've learned recently that too much physical clutter is the sign of too much clutter inside of ourselves.
I've also been learning more about Prepping, preparing for disaster or misfortune. A lot of people reserve this kind of thinking and preparing for conspiracy theorists and paranoid delusional people. I do not.
Emergencies can pop up at any time, the loss of a job is a scary reality that many have had to face lately, and even if something as overwhelming as one of those two scenarios doesn't happen, there are always the weeks that one might come up short on money or get hit with extra bills. So I see Prepping or being prepared as a safety net, an alternative to getting caught with my pants down so to speak. After all, it IS the Scouts motto, isn't it?
I've also been reading on gardening and considering my yard, we haven't had the money to get started so we will have to buy plants already growing, but we are going to have a garden! We are going to start small with a hanging strawberry patch, a couple container gardens, and my flower garden from last year. But we are headed in the right direction!
We have also been fighting with stomach bugs...yuck! So we are looking at more ways to stay healthy and get into better shape as well. No more catching every bug that crosses our path!

Setbacks but still moving forward...
We've had issues and like all families we are moving through them. The biggest one was that financially we've not been able to get anything for a garden. So I've been doing lots of reading books and online. I think we will be starting a bit smaller than originally planned with a couple of container gardens. Its not exactly how we wanted to start but any start is worth it!
Tractor Supply staff made a suggestion to me: Instead of buying Feline Pine, which is 12.99 a box for 14 lbs, I should try the Equine pine pellets. They are much the same thing and are 6.29 for 40 lbs! That is our experiment right now. It would be excellent to get a kitty cost down.
We are working on Spring Cleaning, decluttering, giving away, doing a yard sale, and throwing away what we don't want. We are preparing for a simpler lifestyle. We looked into Earthbag homes but the permits to build them aren't easy to come by so we went back to our original plan of obtaining a small piece of property and building tiny homes and eventually a small barn/storage shed.
I'm determined to become more healthy and self-reliant. Its gonna happen!

New Blog...Progress
Hey! Nice to see you!
It has been awhile hasn't it. I started a new blog to share Moon Haven with you. We've had some set backs and frustrations, but now we're facing forward and its time to get a move on.
We started building a pantry. We've stocked up on essentials, common things that we use most. We do this not only to have a decent supply of food and necessities on hand but also to be prepared for emergencies.
Its almost time to start shopping at Farmer's Markets and Local Farms. We're looking into organic meat sources. So far, we have found that you have to buy a huge amount of meat, and we don't have room for that currently. So we're going to try to find people who want to go in on a purchase. We have decided to can what we don't use right away and that is another investment of both money and time to learn how to can food.
We are growing a garden for the first time this year, we just ordered books to learn more about that. We will be doing a combination of Container, Vertical, Lasagna, and Square Foot Gardening because we have little space of our own. As soon as we get some reading done we will be sending out an order for Non-GMO heirloom seeds to plant with. Check the Resources page for the books that we have been reading.
We have been learning to cook in cast iron so that we aren't eating that nasty non-stick junk that's on most cookware these days. It's been interesting. The smoke detector goes off quite often...lol My next experiment will be cooking over a fire with it. Our next major purchase will be a Sun Oven. I'm fascinated with the idea of the sun cooking our food.
We have been using Feline Pine cat litter for quite awhile now. It is all natural pine and it has taken some adjustment for us all to get used to. It tracks more but the Kitty Babies like it ok now. We are looking into a more natural cat food now.
We have gotten rid of a lot of clutter, more to go though. Moving my Mom's household into mine meant doubles and triples of everything. We set up a lot of extra shelving and are still going through everything and are either giving it away or finding other uses for it.
The healthy eating thing fell by the wayside for awhile as we have been short on cash, but I'm learning ways to make it less expensive to eat organic and Non-GMO. And now that Spring is around the corner we are going to get back to exercising and walking. And we are finished eating out except for special occasions. We have better things to spend all that cash on.
And last but not least we will be implementing more Green practices into our home life. We've got a few simple practices already going, but I want to keep adding on.
I'm glad you visited. and I hope you come back to see how we are doing real soon!
May Goddess Bless you!
